Last season, Shanghai Port experienced a shocking elimination in the AFC Champions League qualifiers, losing 2-3 to modest Pathum United from Thailand. However, in the Chinese Super League, they finished first, five points ahead of Shandong Taishan.
In the current Chinese Super League season, Shanghai Port remains in first place. The competition is still fierce, as they lead Shanghai Shenhua by only two points with five matches left. Notably, Shanghai Port has suffered just one defeat in 25 games—a 1-3 loss to Shanghai Shenhua in the 24th round.
Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT)
JDT is a dominant force in the Malaysian Super League, winning the title for 10 consecutive years. They are also regular participants in the AFC Champions League. In the previous season, they collected 9 points in the group stage but finished third behind Ulsan Hyundai and Kawasaki Frontale.
This season, JDT is comfortably leading the Malaysian Super League, collecting 25 points in 9 matches. Only PDRM managed to take points from the “Southern Tigers” in a 1-1 draw.
